Hah ha, We are Satirists! Harmless Satirists!

Um, I would like to state for the record that "Castleman Security" in ep #102 of Leverage was in no way, shape or form meant to represent Blackwater or any employees or board members of that company.

Please, please do not shoot us in the face
. Allegedly.

You folks are shooting up on 11th and Alder! I walked past it today on my way to the post office. It's really odd watching you guys shoot downtown, where I work, and then seeing it on the television several weeks later. But hey, at least it cooled off enough for you guys (and the rest of us delicate PacNorWest flowers).

That is the one thing that I hated about the Bush administration.

When I would hear some of the crazy rumors I would think "...nah, they're greedy and stupid, but surely not THAT evil".

A week or two later we'd find out that the stories were, in fact, dead on, often corroborated by White House officials Congress.

I once read something that almost perfectly summed up my detestation of the Bush Administration. It might have even been on this blog. Roughly, from memory: "The thing I hate most about the Bush Administration is that they made being a crazy Conspiracy Theorist the rational choice."

Only whoever I stole it from said it better. It's not literally accurate. The thing I actually hate the Bushies the most for is instituting a regime of torture, but it does capture my overall impression of 2001-2008 almost perfectly.

So I read this stuff about Blackwater and I think, "Yeah, I believe that."

Just rewateched this episode last night. I don't see how anyone could mistake Castleman for Blackwater. That would be... silly. Just silly!

"The thing I hate most about the Bush Administration is that they made being a crazy Conspiracy Theorist the rational choice."

That Was Teresa Nielsen-Hayden:

"I deeply resent the way this [Bush] administration makes me feel like a nutbar conspiracy theorist."

Personally, I'd worry more about upsetting Terry Adams.

You're not satirists! You're psychic! Quick, what am I thinking about?

Okay, that's cheating, I'm a Portlandite and it's after two, of course I'm thinking about beer.

(Before two, I would have been thinking about coffee.)

One of my favorite episodes.

Something like "I wouldn't put it past those bastards" ran through my head while watching it.

I still haven't gotten over the fact that the "Castleman" building--off which Parker and Hardison theoretically jumped (or were pushed :)--is the Aon Center, where my wife works. (It's also about six blocks from the exterior for Leverage HQ, which I drove by by accident one day.)

*misses seeing the crew troop about L.A.*

Looks like you have a plot for a new episode.

The gang comes to the aid of Nate's old college pal, a brilliant* show runner who stumbled across a private security company's illegal shenanigans while he was researching a new episode for his hit cable TV show -- and now the company has him marked for death!

Trained assassins versus cutthroat entertainment industry -- with the Leverage team caught in the crossfire...

Just be careful about referring to any "ex-Marines," like the article did. Don't want to piss off anyone else.

*And handsome. Let's not forget that.

I agree. You clearly have powers beyond those of mortal men.

Fortunately(?) for us all, between the Obama Birth Certificate loons, the anti-health care "They're Gonna Shot Your Grandma!" paranoids, and the "Muslim Terrorist President!" nut jobs, the bar for what is and is not a conspiracy theory has been raised considerably.

So I have been reading your blog for a few years now, and I watched the first episode of Leverage today. I'm hooked :P

Thanks

Bates: there would be no conflict.

I'm afraid to explain further without signing off on Writers Guild of Canada paperwork. Can you register a script with those guys the same ways that WGA West allows for, I wonder?
