I didn't see that one coming. Then again if Sci-Fi fans can carry on the adventure by writing further stories for Star Wars, why can't romance fans do the same with You've Got Mail. I would imagine it would be romance fans.
I don't go searching for the stuff to get any sort of 'fix', but I remember once finding a whole section of Star Trek fan fiction dedicated to the repeated death of Wesley Crusher. Some of those stories were very funny.
A piece of unintentionally hysterical Star Trek Voyager fan fiction that spawned a whole series of copycats. If Smurf fan fiction creeps you out, googling the above two words will send you into a blinding spiral of madness.
I think the young lady who came up with the review "You have no life... Writing about Smurfs... GO EAT A MUFFIN OR SOMETHING" pretty much took the words out of my mouth.
I'm so very disturbed by this. I need to go bleach my brain now.

P.S. thanks for the tips on the phone call scene.
Fan fiction for a movie that's a remake of a remake! What I want to do is The Shop Around The Corner fanfic. That'll blow ya'lls puny minds.
Forget the Smurfs. If people can write stories about PONG then they'll write stories about *anything*.

Vadish slash-fic! Or maybe a Pepe/Mrs. Matechek smackdown.
At least it keeps them busy and not flooding agents with their stuff.
Although...
There is Daily Show fanfic out there, as spotted by a metafilter thread yesterday. It's slash.
So is the NASCAR fanfic and the Harry Potter/George Bush story they found.
Two words - "Chakotay's Pillow".

Sorry, man, I had to yank that one. Not for taste, particularly, but that phrase was stuck in my head for two goddam days. Damn you.
Rogers, want something to google?
Try "fanfic" & "L word".
Enjoy.
(No, I don't write it, or read it, I just know about it.)
