From a genial shouting match yesterday:
Me: Hey, don't be pissed at me.
Line Producer: You're the one who put this fucking thing in the script.
Me: The white draft.
Line Producer: Oooh the white draft ...
Me: Fuck you --
Line Producer: Likewise.
Me: -- the white draft is a conversation. "Hey, everybody, this is what we think the show should be." Sometimes embarrassingly goddam simple and clear so everybody understands intent on the printed page. And then everybody chimes in with notes and you tell us it's unshootable --
Line Producer: They are all unshootable.
Me: -- and then we go to blues to see if we all agree, then we refine in the pink pages. Pink revision's the first thing that we might really shoot. Don't get mad until you see the pink.
Line Producer: ...
Me: Maybe not phrased that way..
Line Producer: Wise words for any young writer.
