Planetside visitors

All others ignroe -- but hey, have they yanked the BFR's from the game yet? Or at least balanced them? Planetside was my favorite online future combat game for a long time. Always considered it sort of a neglected classic. Haven't been on in a while, since the focus went from great squad-level tactics to the Mech-fest.

Wow, I didn't even know there were mechs in it now. I gave up over a year and a half a go after getting bilked for the weak-ass Core Combat add on. Plus the game felt way out of balance, certain weapons too strong.

What's the BFR?

By a rigorous process of induction, I would guess it stands for Big Fucking Robot.

I was in PS for a month, last month, after having been away for 18 months. The BFRs just didn't seem that impressive. They're hard to cert for, they've got a 15-minute timer after losing one before you can get another, and they move slowly and clumsily. Not that many people were using them, and they didn't seem to be a big factor in fights.

BFR = Battle Frame Robotics... Yeah, biffers are really just chickenwalker kind of mechs.

I stopped paying about 6 months ago... Worst thing about the BFRs, IMHO, is that they were -supposed- to be heavy tanks. When a Cavalry regiment finds out there will be single pilot unbalancing piles of trash instead of heavy support tanks, things go south fast.

And, as far as I know, they're still there.
